8 Wedding Outfit Ideas

Choosing an outfit for a wedding can be a lot more stressful than it sounds, what with all the worrying about being over or underdressed, clashing with the bridal party or turning up in the same dress as your aunt Mildred. If you’ve got a wedding coming up and you’re working up a frenzy about what to wear, here are eight wedding outfit ideas to inspire you:

For the gents

  1. A formal suit

If you’ve been invited to a traditional wedding you can’t go wrong with a traditional Jasper Littman suit with a freshly ironed shirt, a tie and some smart shoes. Make sure your suit fits perfectly and select a tie that sets off the colour of your suit and shirt. Blacks and dark greys are suitable for winter weddings, while navy, light greys and petrol blue are preferable options for spring or summer ceremonies.

  1. A morning suit

Sometimes very traditional wedding invitations encourage a morning suit. These suits look very sophisticated and you can make yours stand out by wearing a patterned waistcoat with a matching tie and pocket square.

  1. Tailored shorts and a short-sleeved shirt

If you’re going to a less formal wedding or festival-style celebration, tailored shorts well-fitted shirts are a great way to look smart without being overly formal.

  1. Vintage style dresses

If you’re attending a vintage-themed countryside wedding, dresses are a favourable option. Choose delicate floral prints or block pastel shades with romantic cowl necks, A-line skirts and a 50’s style fit. In this lovely outfit you’re sure to feel comfortable and stylish.

  1. City slicking

If you’re going to a modern city chic wedding, go for monochrome dresses, jumpsuits, pantsuits or skirt suits with flashes of colour to give your outfit a lift. Match black and white with red or cobalt blue clutches, fascinators or jewellery to make your outfit pop and give off contemporary vibes.

  1. Boho beauties

Boho is very popular at the moment and lots of couples are opting for bohemian style weddings with less structure than traditional services. If you’ve been invited to an outdoor wedding with a festival feel, why not go for a printed maxi dress with flowery hair accessories and open-toe sandals?

  1. Beach linens

If you’re going to a beach wedding, the dress code is bound to be more relaxed than many other ceremonies. Maxi dresses, linen trousers and bright colours are wonderful options for beach services. Bear in mind the location when you plan your outfit as walking on pebbles and sand in sky high heels is no easy feat! Instead, go for flat shoes or sandals to give your look an effortless finish.

  1. Hats

Hats are a common wedding style staple and they can really make an outfit sing. Choose a hat style that suits your face shape and matches the rest of your outfit.
